Color Prep

  • XML or AAF and EDLs

    • Simplify timeline by moving clips to a single layer (or as few layers as possible). Remove all clips from timeline that will not be graded, including titles, graphics, overlays, FX and audio.

    • Relink to Raw media to be graded.

    • Uncouple nested clips and replace with Raw media

    • Remove dissolves, reversals and dynamic speed changes. (Extend shot lengths to cover removed dissolves and speed changes)

    • Export an XML or AAF and backup EDLs

  • “XFER” Reference QuickTime

    • Export a QuickTime that EXACTLY MATCHES, frame for frame, the timeline to be graded.

    • Include SOURCE TIMECODE and SOURCE CLIP NAME burn-in. This is critical to confirm prep is accurate.

  • “OFFLINE” Reference Quicktime

    • Include the “OFFLINE” Reference Quicktime for each approved edit (the picture locked edit with graphics, sound, VFX and working color)

  • Raw Media

    • A drive with either all the Raw Media to be graded

    • If sending a link, please include only the consolidated Raw clips necessary for color
