Provide a consolidated sequence of clips to color.
Duplicate timeline to be graded
Simplify timeline by collapsing all layers to a single video track (or as few as possible).
Remove clips or elements that will not be graded. This includes titles, graphics, overlays as well as clips past the “out” point.
Decompose all nested or multicam clips.
Remove dissolves, reversals and dynamic speed changes. (Extend shot lengths to cover the removed dissolves and speed changes).
Shots should remain in the spot order with any composites or plates placed at the end of the timeline.
Relink to source media to be graded.
Camera original footage in the camera directory structure if possible.
VFX shots should be exported in the color space of the camera original footage.
Time-lapse or stop-motion built with individual stills should be exported and provided as a video clip.
Low res clips, such as .h264 or .mp4, should be converted to a recommended 10bit format. 10bit ProRes or DNxHR is preferred.
Export an XML or AAF and backup EDLs.
Export an XML or AAF of the timeline as well as an EDL.
EDLs do not support multiple video tracks, so one will need to be exported for each individual track in the sequence
Please add the suffix “v1,” “v2,” etc., for each EDL to indicate the corresponding video track number
-
Purpose: To confirm all footage is linked correctly and resolve any relinking issues.
Export a QuickTime that EXACTLY MATCHES, frame for frame, the timeline to be graded.
Include SOURCE TIMECODE and SOURCE CLIP NAME burn-in. You can easily do this in Adobe Premiere using an adjustment layer with the “timecode” and “clip name” effects.
-
Include the approved “OFFLINE” Reference Quicktime (including graphics, sound, VFX and working color).
-
A drive or link with the source media. (If providing a download link, please only include the clips to be graded).
